Good discussion. Wyatt Stone does not use the Gearbox Pro series. He uses a Gearbox GBX. It is what he used in the match against the Johns. Vich was on fire and could handle everything Ben was throwing at him in those games. I didn’t quite follow what you were saying about Garnett but Vich seems like he would fit the bill. You mentioned Alshon’s singles record may be in a decline [while his Mixed is upward sloping]. Vich doesn’t have the singles decline. Strong in singles and looking good in at least this match for MD. Vich in MXD is TBD.

Nothing I saw in the Gold from JW and Dylan made me think they are there yet for a win against the Johns. Like Chris said, that win may need to come from mental strengths. Dylan has room for improvement when countering under heavy pressure.

Looking forward to what you write pre-Finals.

Thanks for the confirmation on stone’s paddle. It didn’t look like the new one. What part of the Garnett discussion were you unsure about?

We will have a finals preview either tonight or tmrw

can you imagine if the discussion in this podcast about a male player taking “a ball to the forehead” at point blank range, and one of the hosts Laughing about it while the player was on the ground trying to recover, was instead about a female player? I know what the reaction would be. I don’t recall pundits laughing like this, or calling jesse a drama queen when she was hit in the forehead with a “wiffle ball” from further away? But maybe I missed it? And it was also notable in the podcast how the hosts, wearing their shiniest armor, rushed to the defense, of the top female player in the world, who can dish it out verbally with the best of them, when someone said something bad to her on court, after she insulted that player earlier.

ps: second level thinking: if the tournaments were to move indoors the lighting would be drastically improved.

You are the second person who has made this about gender. That’s not the point at all. There isn’t a single well known pro out there who deals with getting a ball to the face the way Collin Johns does. That’s where the laughter comes from. If someone else out there reacted the way Collin did on a regular basis, they would be subject to the same discussion.

With regards to the ALW comment, there are some things in society where gender does matter and this is one of those situations. We have taken the stance in the past where a pro should be treated like a pro, but there has to be some nuance to the discussion and it’s not one size fits all.

That’s a fair point on the lighting. Thanks for listening and engaging!
